JOY TO THE WORLD

RONALDINHO GAÚCHO

O BRUXO do FUTEBOL CHANGED MY LIFE

The magic never left us.

They called him O Bruxo — the Wizard.

Ronaldinho played football as though the ball were an extension of his imagination. The feints, the flicks, the impossible passes, the extraordinary goals — everything seemed effortless, and almost always accompanied by that infectious smile.

He brought joy to teammates, supporters, and even opponents. In November 2005, at the Santiago Bernabéu, he delivered a performance so extraordinary that Real Madrid supporters rose to applaud a Barcelona player.

For me, that night captured everything Ronaldinho represented: artistry, freedom, and the ability to make people fall in love with football all over again.

He also helped welcome a young Lionel Messi into Barcelona’s first team, sharing his encouragement and generosity with a player who would go on to make his own history.

But perhaps Ronaldinho’s greatest gift wasn’t any particular goal, trick, or trophy. It was the way he made us feel about football.

He reminded us of the freedom we felt as children, when the game was played for the sheer happiness of playing. He showed us that imagination mattered, that joy was worth sharing, and that even at the highest level, football could still feel like a game among friends.

O BRUXO do FUTEBOL CHANGED MY LIFE.

The magic never left us.
